From a Small Group to a Growing Movement: Our Story
What began as a simple idea between passionate individuals on Discord quickly evolved into a dedicated team united by one core mission: to support and uplift the communities of Western North Carolina in their times of need. From the beginning, we understood that to create real, lasting change, we couldn’t do it alone. Instead, we set out to connect the right resources, the right people, and the right organizations to maximize our collective impact.
We started by identifying the most urgent needs in our community, then worked as liaisons between local nonprofits, volunteers, and those directly affected by these challenges. Rather than reinventing the wheel, we tapped into the expertise of others, facilitating collaborations that enabled us to provide practical solutions. For example, when we noticed a lack of access to basic hygiene, we leveraged our network’s skills to 3D-print shower heads for those who needed them most.
As we grew, so did our role as connectors. We formed key partnerships with transportation groups that helped deliver food, gasoline, and essential supplies to communities in crisis. One of our most significant partnerships was with Asheville Relief, which allowed us to expand our reach and deliver more coordinated, effective support across the region. We didn’t take on the work ourselves; instead, we bridged communication and resources, ensuring that everyone involved could focus on what they do best.
Through these partnerships, we’ve seen firsthand how powerful collaboration can be. We’ve learned that the most pressing issue facing our community is stable housing for the homeless and displaced—and it’s a challenge that no one organization can solve alone. But through ongoing partnerships and by acting as a liaison between those working on the ground, we are able to bring together the resources and expertise needed to tackle this issue head-on.
As we continue to build and strengthen our network, our commitment remains clear: we will always be the bridge that connects organizations, individuals, and resources. Our role isn’t to do everything ourselves, but to empower others to do their best work, together. By fostering collaboration and ensuring that communication flows seamlessly, we are helping to create lasting solutions for those who need it most.
